Thirty of the Year 10, 11 and 12 GATE students had two nights and two days of creativity in the beautiful Nanga Bush Camp. Picasso’s distorted faces were the inspiration of the first night’s activity. Bandages were used to block out real features and students created new eyes, ears and mouths from modelling clay and positioned them onto each others faces. The results were amazing and quite freaky. The fun had a higher purpose as applying stage make up is a professional skill which can be used in industry. The photos of the distorted faces can now be used as references for portrait painting. The second evening was a showcase of Shadow Puppets. Working in small groups students developed stories, characters and scenery. The results were astounding.
